Making the Most of Middle School

Years 7 to 9

This seminar offers an introduction to study skills and demonstrates to the students HOW to COPE with the demands of Middle School. They will learn skills which encourage the habit of proper study techniques.

Foundations for Success  (DAY ONE)

Years 10 to 12

This seminar offers a range of study skills, explaining and demonstrating HOW to LEARN. All the strategies demonstrated will empower the student to take control over their own learning.

The Core Workshops

• Understanding
  This workshop will introduce a proven strategy that can be applied to most written text, condensing the information so that it can be easily understood.

• Note Taking
  This workshop introduces a creative note taking strategy that uses both sides of the brain and shows students how to write their notes in a visual way to increase memorisation.

• Revision
  Students will be introduced to a strategic approach to revision that as a regular activity will allow students to achieve a greater recall.

Application of Strategies (DAY TWO – optional)

Years 11 to 12

This seminar offers students who have attended one of our Foundations for Success seminars and covered the core workshops, the opportunity to reflect on the strategies previously covered and apply them to their own subject specific text. We facilitate the ideal study routine.

• Have survived so far without too much effort but may lack the skills needed to realise their potential
• Lack motivation or confidence to complete assignments and prepare for exams
